Three cargo ship crewmembers rescued off Oregon

Three injured crewmembers from a cargo ship off the north Oregon coast were rescued Thursday by a Coast Guard helicopter that took them to Astoria for medical treatment.

The crewmembers’ injuries, inflicted while refueling and cleaning the ship’s holds, included apparent chemical burns and one man had a possible broken

bone, according to Petty Officer 3rd Class Amanda Norcross.

The 623-foot ship Almasi requested help Thursday afternoon in high seas.
