Coast Guard lifts injured mariner off cargo ship

The Coast Guard medevacked a sailor near Cold Bay, Alaska, on Sunday after he injured his hand in machinery aboard his ship.

The man was lifted off the 623-foot Liberian cargo ship Mykonos Seas, approximately 75 miles southeast of Cold Bay.

The Coast Guard sent its Jayhawk helicopter, forward-deployed in Cold Bay for the winter fishing season, to conduct the rescue.
